Joachim Chen, of AIESEC Melbourne origin, is about to start on a new phase of his life in Beijing, China as the ACYLP (Australia-China Young Leaders Programme) Coordinator of 2008.

Joa, we offer you our most heartfelt congratulations and we expect nothing but the best from you ;), because we so know you are going to create big waves out there. (Just remember to keep the best TNs for AIESEC Melbourne EPs hey? ;) hehe kidding)

You will be sorely missed, dear Joa. Together with your monkey-like laugh, your heart of gold and meetings at your place with the crazy Milo. :) Dinners at Blue Sky Cafe await you once you set foot on Melbourne shores again.

Good luck, dear friend. We are incredibly proud of you. And excited for you. Words can't express it.

Much love, AIESEC Melbourne.

ps. Congratulations to AIESEC Melbourne for churning out incredibles year after year. We're on a great path. Keep going on it, make it even wider and populated, even more national, more global, as well as a whole lot more amazing than it already is. We've been known for our people, let's make sure that carries on :) And utmost confidence that it will.

ICX/ER is sexy

It's about time somebody wrote something here. The blog has been in active for too long, hence I shall now post up something.

For you newbies out there this year, its time for you to consider your true calling. Join the ICX/ER team. I can assure you that the job is demanding, tough, challenging and at times infuriating.

But, it is also extremely rewarding. You get more out of it due to the challenges that you face. If you plan to work in an office environment next time, this will help you prepare for it. Talking to corporates ain't that easy so you better get all the practice you can get.

So yes, join ER/ICX. its sexy.

LCM 7

Veron, the HR director welcomes you to the wacky world of AIESEC

To all the Change Agents, welcome to the wonderful world of AIESEC, as you will soon learn that not only do we scream weird chants like lunatics and line dance like retards, we also drink like fishes.. OK, I joke!! AIESEC can also help you improve your leadership, challenge your world view and enable you to go on exchange, but it's all up to yourself to achieve all that.

That aside, it was great to see so many new members at the Local Committee Meeting(LCM) last Thursday, and from the feedback the LXS team's got from the members(the old farts), it was the most awesome LCM they've been to, getting to meet all these new members and just having a blast with the icebreaker games and speed dating 'AIESEC' style!

Anyways, here's what Stephanie Brophy, the newest member of the LXS team's got to say about what she thought of said LCM:

Hi AIESECers, My name's Steph, new member of the learning portfolio (LXS for those acronym fanatics). Us new members all trotted along to our first meeting (LCM) on Thursday evening, not really sure what to expect. What we found was some crazy antics... games, chants, funky dances. We learned a bit more about the organisation, including the various portfolios and opportunities, but more importantly, we felt included in a fun, vibrant community. It became quickly evident that everyone at AIESEC Melbourne is genuinely interested in their peers, and keen to listen to and learn from each other. That, or they just like to dance like chickens. The meeting really sparked my interest in the AIESEC experience. I'm now very much looking forward to knowing the people I met and becoming involved in AIESEC activities and events. I am definitely glad to have joined AIESEC, and hope to make it to the state and maybe national conferences, which everyone talks of with excitement, and maybe take part in an exchange opportunity in the coming years.

For the coming LCM, we'll be having a session on Personal Learning Plan, which is essentially goal setting and what do you see yourself doing in the future and how you're gonna work towards that goal.. and tons of other fun stuff we're gonna do, so I'll see you guys at the LCM

Jing Wei, Melbourne LCP-Elect

Daryl Foong, RMIT LCP-Elect

YOU GUYS WILL ROCK VICTORIA!

Whilst the rest of us were slogging away, recruiting EPs, raising exchange, (and maybe studying), these 2 boys were practising dance moves.. Becoming all slick and boyband-ish, as an act of loyalty to their home country. And judging from the screams from the audience in the video, becoming real girl-magnets too ;)

My only regret is that I wasn't there on the day to watch the real performance, and maybe throw a stalk of rose or two onto the stage for them. :P

Presenting Kai and Isaac.. Our LC's own boyband dancers. So if anyone catches them saying that they can't dance or being lazy during line dances, POKE 'EM.

And your next project, if Jing agrees, opening plenary for WanCon 08, and being AIESEC Melbourne's line dance gurus. Very much like how Dan is our resident cheerleader and master, you two can be our resident choreographers and dance instructors.

ps. Let's have a rendition during LCM this week hey, Tris :)

LCM 5

Hey guys.. It's been awhile since I posted a blog on the LCM.. Well if you've noticed that I didn't write one for LCM 4 then it shows how much you miss it.. Well for LCM 5 i wasn't there (guilty of missing it cause I went to the commerce ball but hey, I wasn't the only one), so here's a post from lovely Emma for you guys..

For all you numeracy ball goers out on the town last Thursday- a quick recap. So, you were all sorely missed, but then Neil and Trist brought lollies for compensation.

ICX were optimistic- with future potential partnerships with CPA and an upcoming Cornell Wagner meeting.

PBOX were committed to the AP- planning event with UR.

LCP was looking for inspiration for the future of portfolios- what were their shining points? Ugly points? Threats? And what kind of leader would best tackle these for next year?

Annnd offcourse,

HR- wants everyone to lose some flab and make it to the park for Saturday Olympics.

Then End. Seeya guys at LCM 6

p/s: On another note, a big congrats goes out to Jing, our newly elected LCP and I'm sure he'll do a great job and make Melbourne "THE POWERHOUSE" LC we are!!
